Happy New Year Hodgepodge!

I have not taken part in Wednesday Hodgepodge since the beginning of November. Australia was a major factor and then the lead up to Christmas got in the way. So this year no more excuses and I am happy to be back participating again! Can't think of a better way to kick off 2013 on my blog. Happy New Year Hodgepodgers!

1.  How did you ring in the new year?

I kept it very low key! I think people make too big a deal out of celebrating New Years sometimes. I had my best friends round, ate food, played games and had fireworks at midnight. It was perfect!

2.  What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2013?

I really can't choose between going to Florida in June or Cohen turning 1 years old!

Cohen's first Christmas!

3.  Steven Spielberg is quoted as saying, "All of us every single year, we're a different person.  I don't think we're the same person all our lives."  What say you?

Most certainly agree. I think each year we go through joyful, good, bad and ugly times. I think they certainly shape us into the different people. I don't think they have to be drastic differences but I do think the older we get the more we change in small ways.

4. The Pantone color of the year for 2013 is emerald green. Like or dislike? Do you already own something this color?  Will you add something in this shade to your home or wardrobe in 2013?

I love green on me. I have green eyes and I think it is one of my best suiting colours. In fact my university graduation ball I wore emerald green! I also have a few emerald green cardigans and tops. Go green for 2013!

It looks more blue due to the flash but I promise it's more emerald green!

5.  Speaking of emerald...what's your favorite gemstone?

I really like the Amethyst which is my gemstone for February. It's a really pretty purple. I also really like the Topaz, it's a stunning blue!

6. Share a favorite book or movie from 2012.

My favourite book I read was The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks and my favourite movie would probably be War Horse or Ted (I know it's crude but so so funny!)

7.  What is something you want to tell yourself at the start of this brand new year?

I think I say it every year but to just go with the flow more and stop being so uptight and worrying about things that don't need to be worried about!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The three things I want to do/try this year are: 1) Grow my hair out longer (I've never had hair longer than my shoulders!), 2) Try rock climbing (I recently read an article about it and now I want to try it) and 3) Be more assertive with running (I really enjoy running but I go through phases with it of stop/starting). I guess you could call these my new years resolutions.

I haven't seen War Horse. My hubs watched it on a flight so its one of those I need to rent when he's away.

Happy New Year to you! Your kind of New Year's Eve celebration is my favorite.

Rock Climbing sounds really awesome. I'm hoping to get some camping time in before the baby comes and hoping we make it to Florida this year as well :) Happy New Year
