Wednesday Hodgepodge #3

It's my third time taking part in Joyce's hodgepodge and I'm really enjoying it. I look forward to Wednesday every week now!

1. The Wednesday Hodgepodge this week falls on John Chapman's birth date.  He's more famously known as Johnny Appleseed...what's your favorite variety of apple?

I know this is sucky but I'm actually allergic to Apples! Unless they're cooked. So I would have to say cooking Apples for scrumptious Apple Pies!

2.   When did you last say 'ick'?

Yesterday when a patient vomited on my hand. They never said nursing life was glamorous!

3.   Do you think there's a generation gap?  Explain.

I definitely think there is a generation gap. It exists because there are always changes in values and period effects. Therefore, things will consistently change and the generation gap will always exist. I like that it exists though. Simply because it creates different opinions, debates and in a sense makes us different to each other. For instance, my Gran is from a generation where she stayed at home and was the 'housewife'. She stills believe that should be the case for women when I am fervently against that idea! Although, I respect her opinion it is because of the changes in generation (the gap) that most women aren't doing that any more!

4.  What's on your computer screen saver?  Do you leave it alone or change it often?

It's of a beach I visited in Monterey, California, this past March. I change it every couple of months but this one has stayed the longest!

5.  If you had the attention of the entire world for two minutes, what would you say?

Ah! That's a tough one. Probably some kind of quote that could leave an impression like 'When we know the power of love... over the love for power... then we will know peace" - Jimi Hendrix

But I think for good measure a *wave* and a "HI MUM!!!" too.

6.  Four fashion trends to try this fall are-brocade/jacquard (fancy printed fabrics), peplum, lace, and printed pants...which of these four would you be most likely to wear?

I love lace so it would be that. The other 3 are not my cup of tea!

7.  What can make your bad day better?

Good weather changes my bad mood. I love sunshine!  But also a cuddly hug from the boyfriend or a patient telling me I did a good job. It's the simple things.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I was helping a patient of mine get into the shower yesterday when she said "I like to get into the shower first and then turn the water on". I just thought that was weird! As it's natural to me to turn on the water first, let it get warm, and then get in. Anyone with me on this?

Totally with you on the shower thing!

I agree on the fashion trends and the shower thing- turning it on after you are in seems like such a shock to the system!

I'm with you on the shower thing! I can't stand cold water on me first thing in the morning!

Our hot water takes forever to warm up so I'd never get in without turning it on first.

Hi Mum : ) That's cute!

Ick followed by a puke of my own if a patient threw up on me ;) I'm curious about those styles for the fall. I'm such a dork I never get caught up with the fashion trends!
