Barcelonnnna! Una parte

Last Friday I woke up at 4am bleary eyed to catch a plane to meet Oli in Barcelona, Spain. I will admit Barcelona has never been a city I have eagerly wanted to visit....but I am so glad I did. All the praise I have heard the city recieves is so true!

I will break it down into two posts otherwise I think you will be a little exhausted. So Friday I met up with Oli in Barcelona and once settled into the hotel we ventured out. We bought a 2 day ticket to use a hop on/off bus tour, which personally I think is one the best ways to see as much as you can!

We circled round the red line and took in the city. We saw the Olympic stadium that hosted the olympics in 1992, we took a walk around the previous palace grounds and took a walk along the port. I can´t find the pictures from this day so will upload as soon as I get them Oli´s camera. I will say that that evening we were SO tired and slept like logs.

Then on the Saturday was our only full day in Barcelona and sunk our teeth into as much as we could!!!

This was when we were about to set off on the bus tour for the second day. We had headphones thtat told us about all the sites and basic facts. I loved it!

The only part of the day that was disappointing was that it rained - a lot. I had my hood up or brolly for most of the day which made it feel very cold.

Our first stop was the Sagrada de Familia (Sacred Family). It is a very famous cathedral that Antoni Gaudi designed and is it stunning! When we first drew up to it you couldnt believe how stoic it was. It stands out so vividly! Work first began in 1882 and it is still being built today.

Gaudi knew that he would never live to see it finished but having a strong Catholic faith he wanted to design something dediciated to his Saviour...and it is something amazing indeed!

I´m so pleased we visited there and when I return I will go inside. I am sure the inside is just as beautiful as it is on the outside.

We then headed to a place I have wanted to see for years. The Park Guell! I have seen scenes here filmed in movies and TV shows! It looked so pretty and I think this was my favourite place to visit when in Barcelona. It´s a shame it rained because I bet in daylight the scene would look magnificent!

Park Guell was designed by Gaudi too and it is where his house is situated. It looks like a gingerbread house hehe. Nature was Gaudi´s biggest source of inspiration. I loved the colours and shapes of the architecture. It is totally different to most parks you come across! I really could have stayed and had a picnic. The grounds are stunning!

We then took a tram line to one of Barcelona´s highest points. It was a century old and it was another one of those ´I have never done this before´moments.

After a spot of lunch we then did something totally ├ôli´. He supports Barcelona football club ´Camp Nou´so we went to their stadium and did a tour. He was in his element!

Last stop of the day was FOOD! By 9pm we were starving and went to the Hard Rock Cafe- om nom nom! I had a yummy strawberry cocktail and a huge burger which gave me a huge food baby. Yummy! It was a fun place with rock music playing.

Dos parte manana!

Wow! Looks like an amazing trip! I have seen Sagrada de Familia on TV before and it looks like something out of a fairytale! I wonder when they estimate it will be finished. Ever?

Does look like an awesome trip. I've been to a couple of different Hard Rock Cafes and though they all seem the same, still a cool place to be! Can't wait to see more pics!! :)) ::jealous::
