I need a fish doctor.

For those who follow me on twitter or are facebook pals with me you probably know what I am talking about. On the 11th Feb my older sister Nicola turned 28! She said she really wanted to go to a spa and a try a new therapy. I had no idea it would involve Fish!

"Doctor Fish"

My sister and I getting our treatment.

The birthday girl and her fiancĂ© having their treatment.

Close up of doctor fish.

The fish live off old debris. In some countries they are called Hoover fish because live at the bottom of rivers eating away at old materials in the water bed. They did exactly the same to our feet. As gross as it may sound they ate away at our dead skin, it's their diet and they went crazy.

It really TICKLED and at first we kept wanting to shove them away. After a while your feet sort of de-synthesise and you barely notice them. As well as sucking off at your dead skin they also stimulate blood flow. After the treatment my feet sort of felt more alive and had more colour to them for sure. In some countries this sort of therapy is banned because it is seen as inhumane. In the UK it is mainly used for people with dermatological problems such as eczema and psoriasis. Where skin cells build up too quickly causing patches of very dry and itchy skin. My feet felt so much smoother afterwards.

Let's face it, it's not everyday you have a school of fish wanting to swim around your feet and 'clean' them :)

Not sure how I feel about this "spa treatment" but I am going to see if I can find a place in the US that does it.

Sounds strange, but I will try anything once.

Oi. I'm not sure I'd go for this, haha! I mean, I'd like to say I'd try anything once, but this is intense! Good on you for giving it a go. =]
