What I'm Looking Forward To This Year...

I love to do lots of things but two of my favourite hobbies are reading and watching films. In reflection on 2009 I did not read enough (unless it was Nursing related) and I went to the cinema 5 times (I cannot believe I can count that on one hand). Not enough ventures out to the movies in my book.

Therefore, this year I am going to make a bigger effort to have some more 'Me' time and enjoy reading books I love and enjoy seeing films. This makes me happy :) Below are a list of films I am so excited to see this year and some books I am looking forward to getting lost in. Let me know what you think...

Films:

The Blind Side - This does not come out until February over here but I have heard such great reviews. I am a sucker for anything that will tug at my heart strings. Plus, I think the storyline you can learn a lot from. I cannot wait to see this film.

Alice in Wonderland - I am not really a fan of Tim Burton films because of the way he makes everything come across quite 'dark'. I did not enjoy his version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at all. However, the cast for the film is impressive and the trailer makes me want to see it.

Shrek Forever After - I think the character of 'Donkey' is one of the funniest characters ever written and is by far one of my favourite films. I do think they are making too many of the films but I am excited to see it anyhow. This is the last one they are releasing I believe and  Shrek enters this sort of fairytale in order to live happily ever after. It comes out in May which is when I will be working hard on my dissertation so I know this will be a comedic break away from it all!

Toy Story 3 - This is the film I am most excited about seeing!!! :) The Toy Story movies are my favourite Pixar animation films. The plot, cast, animation and humour is fantastic. It is a film for all ages and I know the wait til June will be worth it. My favourite characters are Dinosaur and Ham! They are films I can watch over and over again!

Grown Ups - This is a film starring Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. It is released in June. My brother has been telling me about it and it sounds rather appealing. It is about 5 friends who come together after 30 years apart. They reminisce over how they met, the good times etc and realise that just because they are growing older doesn't mean they have to grow up.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 - Need I say more? I love the books and the majority of the films are very well depicted. I adore the music, the magic and just the jargon of it all! I am gutted that the films are nearing the end.

Books:

The Book of Tomorrow - I have already finished this book and I devoured it in two days. It is by the same author of the infamous book and film PS. I Love You. It is about a girl whose father passes away and she goes to live with her 'odd' Aunt and Uncle. She finds this book in a travelling library that has the magic to know exactly what will happen in her life 'tomorrow' before it has even happened. I loved every bit of it and to be honest would love a book like that myself.

Same Kind of Different as Me - I am reading this for the Bloom Book Club. It is the first faith based book I have ever read. I am really enjoying it so far and I love that it is set in deep south America during the civil rights movement. It reminds me of one of my favourite books ever 'To Kill A Mockingbird' - so far this book is excellent!

Things I want my daughters to know -  Just from reading the blurb I know this will make me cry. It is about a mother who passes away and leaves letters for her four daughters to help them. They each have a certain unhappiness about their lives but even though their Mum has passed away she is still helping them. My sister is reading this at the moment and I even saw her tear marks on some pages. I know that this is selling for a great price on Amazon.com/.co.uk at the moment :)

I am tempted to read 'The Twilight Saga' but I am being stubborn as I do not want to get caught in the hype of it all. My Mum says that it is just like the Harry Potter phase people went through but I got into Harry Potter long before people became 'obsessed' by it. Callie also told me about a book called 'A Girl's Best Friend' so I am going to look into that.

Anyone else got any films or books to recommend?

Glee starts over here in the UK next week and just the little snippets I have seen have got me laughing out loud. I am making a date with my sofa to watch that. I have a new navigation bar at the top of my blog where I am putting all my 365 photos. So far so good and I am enjoying it so much....

Have a great week!

I'm tell you, Twilight is worth it! I'm a person prone to becoming a little attached but I'm just enjoying the storyline. The characters are very well written and the love story makes me smile! I don't know why people are getting so upset about it; basically, it's a battle between good versus evil. If you've read Harry Potter or seen movies like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter, it's pretty much the same!

Oh, you'll love the Blind Side, and I can't wait for Toy Story 3 and for the new Harry Potter! I really enjoyed reading Sophie Kinsella's Twenties Girl this week! So funny!

I started the Twilight series before all the hype and I absolutely love it! I believe I read the last book in 2 days!

Have you read Lovely Bones? I read it about 4-5 years ago and loved it. The movie is coming out here next week and my friend is borrowing my book to try to get it done before we see the movie.

I've read almost all of the Nicholas Sparks books and I highly recommend them all!

I'm about to start reading Redeeming Love. My sister rarely ever reads and she read this book and loved it so I know its going to be good.

Can you tell I love reading!? haha

Ahhh Toy Story 3 is going to be epic! And Harry Potter, of course. I saw that "Things I want my Daughters..." at the store I work at... read the back and I was tearing up. But I definitely want to read it.

I'm kind of indifferent about the Twilight series. I've read all of them (Before the hype) and there are good and bad aspects to the series.

And I bet you'll looove Glee. Easily one of my two new favorite shows (along with Modern Family).

Harry Potter is the one I'm looking out for! I have been tempted to read the Twilight series, my nieces are crazy about it! "Me" time is very important and the older I get, the more I realise how much I missed out on! It's what keeps you sane! :) I am a firm believer in BALANCE! It's never good to work and forget about play! Good luck!

Things I Want My Daughters To Know is the most heartbreaking book I've ever read! Heartbreaking in the way that I was bawling on the bus, in the staff room, anywhere I was reading. It was gorgeous.

I will pay you a tenner NOT to read the Twilight books!!! Instead try; The Immortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare or Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Even the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Anything but Meyer!!!! Sorry....got a little carried away there!

Cecelia Ahern is LOVE by the way! My favourite will always be PS I Love You. Closely followed by A Place Called Here!

TOY STORY AND SHREK!!!

I stumbled across your blog. . .

"the Blind Side" was absolutely amazing -- I saw it twice in the theater and definitely think it was the best film of the year...maybe the best in several years...but it doesn't 'hit close to home' for me, so maybe that's why i'm so biased.

I admit, I read the Twilight series this year and loved them. It was the first time in a LONG time that I got "lost" in the story line.

Happy reading!

I went to see the Blindside in theaters and I thought it was FABULOUS it was so heartwarming and inspiring.

I am part of the Bloom book club as well!! I really enjoy being a part of this community. Same Kind of Different is a different style book for me, but surprisingly I am really enjoying it.

I LOVE Glee!!! It is absolutely one of my favorite shows. The soundtrack is also excellent.

Project 365 is a really rewarding experience. I did it last year, and I am really glad to be continuing it again this year. Have fun with it!! :)

Haven't read Twilight yet, but I recommend most of the Jodi Picoult and Paulo Coelho books. I currently read eleven minutes from Paulo Coelho.

Be sure to watch Glee. Even my hubby is addicted!

When you have a chance I'd love to know how you did the navigation bar for your 365 photos. I didn't know how to do something like that, so I started a new blog = )
