A Friend Out of the Ordinary.

This may come as a suprise to you but I am very picky about who I befriend. I am 'safe'. I am comforted by who I choose to spend my time with. I hear everyday of stories where friends have stabbed, shot or beaten each other. I have seen people encourage their 'friends' to take drugs, smoke all kind of nasty things and drive under the influence. It's okay though right? Because they are friends. Wrong. I am quite judgemental when it comes to people like these. Drug addicts, alcoholics etc you name it. I am ashamed to admit it but I was. Until this girl walked into my life...

My ex boyfriend introduced LouLou to me at a BBQ and we instantly clicked. She is probably one of the very few people in my life who truly gets me.

I am not going to talk about her past life as it is her story to tell. However, when I was first introduced to her she was this new girl who I wanted to befriend. Lou makes me laugh. She is so supportive. She is a loving friend of whom I would be lost without. Seriously. She is my drinking buddy. She sends me some of the funniest texts. She adores her boyfriend to bits! She loves loads of music! She is there for me - always. She is successful and talented, even if she doesnt agree. I mean she did the make up for these models below after doing a hard cosmetic artistry course...and most importantly I am proud of her. I am proud that she has recovered from her past demons but even more proud that she changed my attitude.
Lou Lou if you ever read this I want you to know how thankful I am to you - for everything. I am always here for you -and I wouldnt want to be anywhere else! :)

She's a friend from out of the ordinary and I love her so much. She really has taught me that you cannot judge a human being, like everyone is, until you have walked in their shoes.

Yes Man!

...I'll take blurry pictures whilst running!

Have you guys ever seen that brilliant movie 'Yes Man' starring Jim Carrey?! I love that movie and I love his sense of humour when acting! I am literally crying tears when watching him. His latest movie is about a man who says no to everything in life. He then joins a group that encourages people to say yes to everything. So he starts this (hilarious!) journey of saying yes and in true film fashion falls in love with a quirky girl. This girl runs a jogging club where they take photos whilst running to make it different and more fun. Therefore, me being a random chick I decided to do this when doing one of my three weekly runnings sprints slow jogs. It certainly made it different and I got the weirdest stares from people this morning. No suprise!

Some of the pictures are fuzzy and some are not as for some of the run the camera was on the wrong setting. I know the idea was to create blurry pictures but my camera has a setting for making still shots whilst moving that I hadn't used yet. Sooo...if you ever happen to be running then take some pictures as it makes a bit more interesting. If not then see this movie as I guarantee you will enjoy it. This film was also really good for highlighting what I easily forget about my life.
'The World is one big playground, we know it and live it as a kid, but somewhere along our path we just forget to enjoy the fun of it.'

She loved the Suprise.

Earlier this week I posted about how I love giving suprises! I asked for ideas on engagement gifts for my friend Sacha and you certainly helped!

This is Sacha with just some of her gifts. She absolutely loved them all and kept repeating how much it meant to her.

On Friday I had my BBQ and had a brilliant time. The sun was shining and we just had so much fun. There was a slight hiccup with the BBQ as it wouldn't light at first so I had to run to some local supermarkets in the hope I could find more firelighters!!! Even though the event was hosted at mine I ended up being the last to arrive haha! Overall, we had our food later but I hadn't laughed like I did in so long. Below are some pictures :)

This was the basket my friends and I made her. The only thing missing was a wedding planner which most of you guys suggested. I am just waiting for it to be delivered. It consisted of a frame, her favourite alcohol, wedding book, my best friends wedding on dvd, 'L' plates, a bride to be sash (it lit up!), a heart necklace, a bride wand, lucky horse shoe, a teddy, confetti and a card! Whew!

Us girls enjoying the evening!

Thank you all so much for your ideas. It meant a great deal and it went towards a very happy bride-to-be. Sacha plans to get married here in England in Sept 2010 with her family coming for a holiday during it.

Have you ever given suprises? Did they go as planned?

I <3 Suprises!

I love suprises but most of all I love suprising other people that I love! I adore the creativity, anticipation and the thought that goes into them and my latest one is no exception.

One of my good friends Sacha got engaged over Easter weekend and I could not be more happier for her! She was ecstatic and is so excited about getting married. However, Sacha moved over to the UK to be with her new fiance Kevin when he was promoted in his job. Her family and very close friends are living in her native home South Africa, it is pricey to fly the 7 hours over here. Even though she was so unbelievably happy to have a stunning rock placed on her finger she has missed sharing in the joyous occassion physically with them.

*Cue Suprise Planning*

This Friday I am having a BBQ due to the glorious weather England has been relishing in this week (although now saying that the Sun will probably change it's mind lol). My close friends and I have decided to assemble a basket of goodies to give to her as a way of showing that even though her family aren't here we are here - always - to celebrate with her.

However, I need some of your ideas of what to gather. I have the following:

A bottle of wine, wedding magazines, a blue necklace, my best friends wedding on dvd, wedding book and a small frame. My Mum says that is enough but it doesn't fill the basket and she really deserves to be spoiled! At the age of 19 (she is now 20) to move away from all your family and friends to a new country, people and work is daunting.

Get your thinking caps on guys - engagement ideas please? :)

Nostalgic Moments.

Today in England it is living up to its label. Good ol' Rainy England.

I love the sunshine but there is one reason why I love rain too. It is my favourite sound! (very closely followed by the beeping sound of the atm machine giving me money.)

There is nothing more relaxing to me than going to bed or waking up to the sound of the rain. I, also, love the dewey smell it releases in spring when soil is fresh. I have a lovely feeling of nostalgia overcome me when it rains and it pours. I captured it on video, the actual footage is rubbish because you can't see the rain bucketing it down. Yet, I just wanted to film the sound for myself and to share with you guys. (I know everyone has heard rain lol but this is English rain - a whole new meaning not.)

I remember when I was younger I would just stand motionless in the rain, in my sesame street (yellow!) raincoat, and just day-dream to the sound of the rain.

What sounds make you nostalgic or you just love?! I would love to know!

It is quite a 'heavy' word as some would say. I will admit a taboo topic amongst people over here in the UK.

During my Nurses training when I have asked patient's about their past medical history, if they have had one, every female has shouted from the rooftops whispered to me that they have had an abortion. I just find it extraordinary, and you may not agree, but they can quite easily at a normal tone of voice talk about their asthma, their depression or their current state of health. Yet, they whisper they terminated another life. I have been taught that this occurs because they feel guilty and I hate to admit this. I really do. They should feel darn right guilty, if their baby was perfectly compatible for life on this planet.

This has come strongly to my attention due to Stephanie's recent post. If you have not read it then you should because it speaks volumes. It speaks for the voices of the innocent lives that didn't have the chance to walk this Earth. It speaks volumes for the infertile. It speaks volumes to the people who have lost their most precious and valuable posessions - the baby's they made out of pure love and want.

It speaks volumes to me. This is where I will be very honest and frank with you.

When I was 16 years old I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). At the time I was pretty ignorant of what it caused because it meant I didn't have a period every month. I was free of pain, nausea and being extra hygienic all the time. Whoo, right?!

Then I started to have the most awful mood swings and so I decided to go on the contraceptive pill. I thought having a pill induced (artificial) menstrual cycle would help. I then decided to really research PCOS and what it entailed because all my doctor said was that I wasn't finished growing and that once my body had settled my cycle would be back to normal again. Therefore, the PCOS wouldn't be so bad.

I wish I hadn't have been so naive to believe her because she missed an awful lot out of the equation.

The biggest long term side effect of PCOS is reduced fertility or complete infertility. At the time of finding this out I wasn't so worried because the little future nurse in me believes in medical science and break-throughs. I still do :) Then on May 4th, of last year, I was rushed to hospital after collapsing and falling unconcious with severe abdominal pains. The cysts on my Ovaries had ruptured completely affecting their function. I thought that was the worst of it but what my doctor delivered to me next was heart-wrenching.

I was then told by my doctor that my chances of having children naturally had dramatically decreased by 70%.

I could not believe that I was 19 years old and hearing this, let alone trying to make sense of it. I had never thought of having children at that age but to be told that both my ovaries had 15% function each. I was devatasted and beyond tears/anger.

I will always remain positive for my future as a mother because there is always hope. Forever and always.

I have always disagreed with abortion. Stephanie and the campaign are correct. Responsibility begins at conception. When I hear of the thousands of abortions that take place annually. I just think of how my desire to carry something as beautiful as a life, that mine and your parents have freely given, has been crushed by 70%.

As I am not a US citizen I cannot send this letter but I urge all who can to send this Red Letter, in reflection of the lives already greedily taken, to President Obama. I have signed countless petitions to the UK government. They have listened in the sense that partial birth abortions are not legal but to me, and so many others, that is not enough.

Abortion should be illegal. Full stop.

Exciting News that Involves You Guys.

Heya eveyone.

I hope your're all having a good week and looking forward to the Easter weekend!

My news may not sound that exciting to you but I am so happy to have been asked. My University where I attend nursing school have asked me to produce a video/v-log for prospective students who are thinking of studying where I attend. They have given me a list of questions that have been asked by future attendees. I thought this was brilliant and out of 30 people in my degree group they asked me and 2 other girls :)

On top of that my professor is currently writing a book and has been gloating about it for weeks. Seriously I think she was more enamored by her book than teaching us about NG tubes lol. She found out that some people in my class are doing this v log for students to get sent out via email and in interview selections.

Well she asked us if we could be apart of the book by taking certain elements from the individual videos we do! I was so happy but I kind of ruined the moment by asking if my name could look pretty in a different font. Font Arial isn't my thing lol. It was so typical of my mouth to produce those words lol!

Anyway she said that she wanted our V-logs to have a personal style to them as well as just drawing in future students. I was at a loss at what to talk about. I really had no idea at what she meant by personal, so I mentioned that in my spare time I blog. My professor thought it would be a great idea to involve you guys by asking me anything!

Anything you like.

It could be to do with my nursing, opinions, anything you want to know more about or anything you may be just curious to asking.

The whole idea is that future students don't just want to know about what being at nursing school is like. They have to get to know the variety of students there are and their lives, beliefs and cultures they get up to outside of nursing school. All your questions will be answered and I will show you the finished product in the end.

I would really like it if you could help me out. Professor de Souza is hard to please and I love the idea of you guys being involved by helping and guiding me. The more questions you ask the better. I am just so thrilled to do something different other than essays and research articles! Below are the of type questions that I have already been set so don't ask me them lol.

Why I wanted to be a nurse, why I chose the nursing school I am at, what do you think makes a good nurse, is the course hard, how easy is it to settle into the routine.

Thank you guys. You are the greatest!

Blog Video: Shallow or Vain?

Heya Everyone :)

A very happy (Palm) Sunday to you all. I have done another blog video - I am on a roll!

I am having a day where vanity is getting the better of me. Argh! The video will pretty much explain the idea of love bites or hickeys. I do not know which you prefer or namesake the 'things'! However, if you guys could help or at least understand the shallow depths I have gone to then I am calling you all saints. lol.

My Mum did highlight that there are more things to worry about but we all have to admit there are petty things in life we all fret about. I know there is a bigger picture in life where there are bigger things to worry about. In the mean time enjoy the idea that vanity and shallowness are not virtues. :)

Talk to you guys soon.

Making the 'Mosaic' of You.

Heya Everyone!

I wanted to share something with you. I got this idea from Stacie and I thought it was brilliant! It is a picture 'Mosaic Maker' where you find 9 pictures to 9 questions about you. It's simple and I really enjoyed finding things that reflect myself. I hope you take part :)

All you have to do is:

1) Go to Flickr and using only the first search page place in the answers to one of the 9 questions into the search engine.

2) Then copy and paste the URL's for each image you choose into the 'Mosaic Maker' at: Remember to change the columns to 3x3.

3) Voila! Save it to your computer and then you have your Mosaic that completely resonates you!

This is my one, I love it.

If I could have it on my wall I would lol.

Here are the questions. Can you guess which answer goes to which photo :)

1) What is your name? Rebecca.
2) What is your favourite drink? Coca-Cola. (I wanted to put water but then I would by lying!)
3) What is your favourite food? Chinese.
4) What is your favourite Colour? Yellow.
5) Where is your dream vacation? Anywhere as long as there is a beach and sunshine.
6) Favourite hobby? Reading at the moment.
7) What do you want to be when you grow up? A Nurse.
8) What do you love most about your life? All my relationships.
9) One word to describe you? Hardworking.

I hope you do it and post it. Thanks for reading guys, hope your're having a great Thursday and enjoy the Friday feeling tomorrow!
