25 Random Facts About Me.

A bunch of my friends have recently posted this “25 Random Facts About Me” thing on facebook. Since I was tagged, I thought I’d just make it a blog post. I’m guessing most of these things will not come as a surprise if you’ve known me for more than a day!

Forget the “25 people” part of the rules. If you decide to play along, please post your 25 random facts on your own blog or website, then provide the link of the blog you just tagged yourselves from. You never know we may start a blog phenomenon - or not! I was tagged from Jessica :)

25 facts about me.

1) When I was younger I was obsessed with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. However, I always used to call them them elves and one christmas decided to shout out in a packed pantomime audience - "Mum! Look at the Elves aren't they tiny!"

2) My ultimate dream is to be a Midwife or Nurse in the third world.

3) I do not wear trainers, jogging bottoms or heels. They're either feet killers or do not match with anything.

4) I LOVE my vegetables. I cannot have my main meal of the day without them!

5) I have never been a cuddly toy kind of girl but I love blankets! As I grew up I had a safety blanket called 'Ticket.' The reason being that I was more interested in the blanket label sewn to it than the actual blanket itself.

6) I really want to visit Sydney, NYC, Berlin and Kenya - Rawr!

7) I want to do something amazing for charity one day! - Like jump out of a plane, do a big marathon or promote vaccinations in under developed continents.

8) I love the smell and feel of clean sheets - I get the best nights sleep ever!

9) My all time favourite movie is The Sound of Music! I know every single lyric and it is a Christmas must see every year in my house.

10) The worst feelings I hate are being cold, being itchy or getting tickled. They either warrant a teenage tantrum from me or a slap!

11) There is no such word as G-Y-M in my vocabulary. The word fails to make me comprehend why people enjoy it. It is the most boring place ever and there are far more interesting ways to exercise and have fun!

12) I am a reality telly addict - Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, X factor, The Hills etc you name it. I am watching it.

13) I have the biggest phobia of vommiting - I will clean, worry and panic until the wave of nausea or bacteria goes away. Yeah I am strange...

14) Up until I was 18 (became legal to drink, enter bars etc). I was adamant drinking, late nights out, drunk dancing would never be 'my thing.' I convinced no-one and safe to say I have not convinced myself yet!

15) I HATE cigarettes! If you smoke near me I do not want to know you for the time that cancer stick is in your mouth. I am really disgusted by them.

16) I am at one of my happiest moments in the theatre. There is no feeling better than being captivated by an unfolding story right befores your eyes.

17) If you fancy irritating me then do so by speaking in the incorrect terms. I love my English - it was my favourite lesson at school - and it aggravates me when it is spoken incorrectly!

18) I love to vote and have my say in politics. The way I see it is if you do not vote then you do not have the right to moan about the way your country is governed or presidented.

19) If I ever have a baby girl her name will be Grace. It has been that way since I was nine years old.

20) I really wish I could edit real life. No spots. No wrinkles. Good skin tone. Whay!

21) I love taking off in an aeroplane - it's exhiliarating!

22) I have multiple dreams a year about flying anywhere in the world. When I wake up I envy birds.

23) I am allergic to Cheese and detest Seafood! Ever since watching The Little Mermaid when I was 7 years old, and falling for Sebastian the crab, then I really cannot eat it.

24) The sound of laughter is the best cure for anything with me. It never fails to put a smile on my face when I am happy or sad.

25) When I was 10 I won a school christmas card competition. I won a free cinema trip and I chose to see Babe: Pig in the City. I loved it!

What are some of your random facts? I would love to know :)

Never Let Go.

This may be the opposite of others thoughts - but I love looking at photos of myself, my family and friends as we were growing up. I remember when I was younger getting the photo box out virtually every couple of months. I would go through each one and ask the same questions about them and when it was taken. My parents would always ask ‘do you not get tired of doing this?. The simple answer - no. I love memories. I love the people in the them. I love seeing the changes made and I love the fact that they each have a story. I know many people who say they do not understand why people take so many mementos of the same view, trips, faces and smiles.

I do understand and I think it is amazing. They show that our lives are pretty crazy with what we capture. Hence, my camera comes around with me a lot.

Recently, I forgot the power of them and I went through my personal photo box that I made a couple of years ago. I hadn’t been through it in ages and I revelled in doing so. I remember at the time I had been crying until my bed sheets were soaked with tears from anger, sadness and desperation to achieve. I can honestly say it was the best treatment to bring a smile to my face. My lovely boyfriend advised me that I made a video of all my favourites and I would like to share it with you below. It took me ages to do and I am pleased with it, as my IT skills leave a lot to be desired for.

In everything I do I love to find the meaning. We do not do what we do in life without a rationale behind why we choose it. I chose the song ‘Never Let Go’ by David Crowder Band. I have heard it has become quite popular in America and I fell in love with the song once I heard it on Angie’s blog. The song speaks volumes to me.

We never let go of what is important to us. We never let go of what upsets us the most. We never let go of those moments where we take a mental picture and saviour it our thoughts. We never let go of our dreams. We never let go of the people we miss the most. We never let go because that is what keeps us strong and what makes us get up every morning to live out our lives.

I am nothing without my parents bringing me up with no deprivation and teaching me that all I can do is my best. I am nothing without my siblings who I could kill a lot of the time, but would kill to have them everyday. I am nothing without my best friends who show me constantly that I can do it even when I feel heartbroken. I am nothing without my boyfriend who teaches me everyday that it is the simple pleasures in life that are the most mind blowing. I would feel empty without this blog. I will never let go of the amazing stories and 'friends' I have made on this. Finally, and even though I cannot admit it sometimes…I am nothing without the patients I take care of in my nursing training. They relinquish my ultimate passion - to take care of others before myself.

I will never let go of my family and friends. They never let go when I lose my grip on reality through sunshine and rain. They have taught me through these pictures that you can never truly let go, it just isn’t possible…when they are the building blocks to who I am and who carry me and each other through everything. Literally everything and I am forever indebted to them for that.

Computer problems.

It may sound daft but my laptop has literally gone kaput and it feels like I have lost a limb without it. It holds a different world for me that does. The tech guys say it will be ready Wednesday - that means I have to do university work to bide the time.

However, I was particularly upset because I was working on a very poignant post - probably the hardest I have ever typed and some workings to go with. It literally all dissapeared when my laptop died on me. Needless to say, I was gutted.

Anyhow I hope you guys stay tuned as I really want to post it but until my laptop breathes new electrical life, I hope to share.

Thanking you friends, I hope your new year is coming on leaps and bounds :)

Your 2009!

Happy 2009 to you All!

I hope you all enjoyed or found comfort in bringing the new year in. It's 2009 and I know it is a time for new years resolutions. However, I have to be honest and say mine always go out the window by March. If you all have the willpower to do the whole year then I wish I had your stamina and good will. In saying that I really wanted to do something to represent the new year and a fellow blogger Jessica introduced a great way to do this.

What is your one little word, or sentence, that sums up what you want for yourself in 2009?

I have thought about this all day and to me at first it sounded obvious and I kept trying to find new words around it. However, my mind thesaurus admitted defeat and I want my 2009 to be meaningful.

I want to be meaningful with my friends and family. I want to be meaningful in my nurses training. I want to be meaningful in how I spend my time. I want to be meaningful in how I spend my money. I want to be meaningful in how I capture my memories and saviour them. I want to be meaningful in my actions and feelings.

So...what is your little word for your big 2009?! Make sure you leave a comment and hopefully you might be inspired. I spent my new year with my friends and we watched Big Ben chime in London on the television. I have left a video below to share with you guys! It is beautiful!
