Happy Mothers Day.

In the UK today it is every Mum's day to get pampered - I hope! It's Mother's day and it is such a nice day for it. :)

I got my Mum some hanging flower baskets because she is a big fan of Gardening! She really liked them and because it is warm and sunny my brother, sisters and I are going to do a BBQ for her.

I know it is a Hallmark card holiday but it does make me realise how much I appreciate my Mum. I know I take her for granted. I go to her when I feel down. I go to her when I am annoyed. I go to her when I am ill. I pretty much go to her when I feel really negative and I know that is unfair. I sometimes forget that my Mum is human too and deserves to be part of the really happy moments. Last night I told her I don't appreciate her enough and that I adore her more than she realises. In her reply to me showed that she was my super Mum!

She told me that I do. I do it in more ways than I realised possible. She said we all appreciate her when we say thank you to her for cooking us dinner. When we go out we tell her where we are and what time we will be back so she doesnt have to worry. We take my Gran out for the day so she can take a day off from caring for her so she can relax. When we come home and tell her about our day so she can keep up with her 4 kids lives. She said we appreciate her for being thankful, not filling her with fear for our safety and for letting her see the little things.

The nicest thing she said to me the other day and I will always cherish it was - 'In 14 months time you will qualify as a Nurse. It will make the first 21 years of your life so much more worth the thrill of raising you.'

I cannot wait to make her even prouder. I love my Mum. I really have no idea what I do without her from teaching me about how to use a washing machine to helping me realise that, - in life all you can do is your best and the best will always be good enough!

Happy Mother's Day, Mum.
What is the best thing your Mum has ever shown/taught you?

You're right it is a 'Hallmark Holiday' but it's one that is very welcome.

Everyday is Kids' Day so I really like that there's a day when we can let our Mum's see how much they are appreciated.

That was a wonderful tribute Becca. It brought tears to my eyes.

That's so sweet. Aren't moms the best?

I have to admit I had a moment yesterday. When you twittered about Mother's Day I had to do a double take. I was all, "Today is Mother's Day, but it's March!" Then I quickly remembered, she lives in the UK...

:)

I thought it was interesting when I learned that Mother's Day is not the same day every where. We were in Ireland for their Mother's Day and I momentarily panicked when I though I forgotten my mom. Fortunately she still lives in the US and goes by that calendar :)

Thanks for stopping by! I will (guilty) admitted we loved the "heart attacks on a plate" - especially since we normally eat cold breakfasts in the Netherlands.

We spent New Years in London and LOVED it! Our next destination is Edinburgh and Scotland - would love it if you had any advice.

Aw that sounds so sweet, the weather was AMAZING on Sunday (all week in fact!), we had a BBQ too!

What she said to you makes my heart swell. You must have been welling up like nobody's business!!

your mom is adorable!

my mom taught me how to be the "bigger person" when dealing with difficult people. that helps a lot in the nursing field! :)

speaking of, my background in nursing...
started in a pediatric office. then worked in a hospital on a ped. surgical floor, a little peds. hem/onc., then onto newborn and level II nicu, now i work on a mother/baby postpartum floor. (see a trend?) i love kids. of all ages.

Aww I love Mother's day too... Your mom sounds awesome. It's great to dote on our mother's for a day.

The wedding's on June 13th... it's sneaking up so fast! One of my good friends is going to be the photographer. =) I'm sure there's tons of other things I'm forgetting though.

I love the way that even the word mother is different across borders, u knw Americans say Mom and Europeans say Mum. But in reality a mother is always the same - one who cares for you and loves u no matter what!
Ive got lots of respect for student nurses coz i knw how tough your course is (my sister just graduated last year and is now an SRN!)
Thanks for your comment on my blog, i LOVE the UK. just came back from London and going to glasgow for 3 months in summer for my internship (u know ERASMUS?)
Take care of yourself!
