Can you believe it is nearly the end of February already?

I was driving home today and I had (what the British call) an Epiphany. The sun was shining for the first time in weeks, the wind was warm and there was the first beautiful sunset I had seen for the first time this year. It was an incredible feeling and you know when you start smiling to yourself for no apparent reason? That was me! I started thinking about everything that has happened since I was born and I decided to blog it here. I have seen MckMama and a few other bloggers chronicle their lives as well. I think it is my welcome to my world and where I am proudly from :)

February 8th 1989 - I was born after a 12 hour labour at 7 pounds and 4oz at 21 inches long. My Mum’s chances of breastfeeding were over as I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant. Soya milk it was to fill my tummy! The Berlin wall was knocked down which noted the first step toward German reunification. (Baby photo to come.)

1990 - I was diagnosed half deaf in my left ear. My parents had noticed I would not respond to loud noises and that I struggled to make expressions to certain sounds.

May 1991 - This sprog appeared by the name of Rachael. I became a big sister!

October 1992 - My Mum’s baby mission still continued and our family was blessed with the first boy of the family, my baby brother Philip. I begun an obsession with my favourite Disney film ever - Aladdin!

A whole new world certainly began for me...not so much my parents as I had to watch this movie every night before bed, for around 6 months!

September 1993 - My Aunty Jo finally got married after kissing all too many frogs. It was a lovely day! My Dad got promoted in his BT Cell net job and was away for long hours. I missed him!

Flower girl or Daddy's girl?

February 1994 - My Granddad suffered a sudden brain haemorrhage on St. Valentines day and sadly passed away six days later. He will always be my Valentine. I started school for the first time and loved it!

I wrote a letter to my Granddad. Click here and scroll 3/4 way to read. Dated September 3rd 2008.

March 1995 - After years of trying my Aunty Jo falls pregnant and I become a cousin for the first time. My teacher passes away from cancer and I begin my passion for Ballet.

Summer 1996 - I develop my Chinese food obsession, start my speech language classes and have my first kiss with Adam Mead whilst playing skittles in the playground. Tupac Shakur is killed. Bill Clinton is re-elected as president and my little brother is diagnosed with Dyslexia.

Summer 1997 - I have another cousin by my Aunty Jo. I go up a grade in Ballet and perform my first dance to Men in Black in front of the school. Princess Diana is killed, Britain is taken over by the ‘New Labour Party’ and the United Kingdom win the Eurovision song contest!

I remember the Princesses's passing being the first public death I was really moved by.

1998 - Spice fever hits me after a delay of hating them and I attend my first ever concert. I officially become a fan of the Spice Girls! My best friend at school suffers a big convulsion which leads to an infection of the Brain. She never returns to school again and has to be hospitalised/schooled long term.

Girl Power took Over!

1999 - My family is transformed when we get Sky television and I love every single programme Nickelodeon had to offer - particularly Sabrina the Teenage Witch. My Aunty Lucy comes out of prison and my family forgive her. I begin secondary school - the best school days ever!

If people say school was the hardest days of their life...I believe they're the most fulfilling.

2000 - It is the Millennium and we celebrate in London. I develop Obsessive Compulsive Disorder due to my fear of vomiting. George.W.Bush is the new president. The Spice Girls lose Geri so I turn my attentions to S Club 7 and Britney Spears!

Happy New Year, 2000.

Summer 2001 - I become a reality TV junkie and become addicted to Pop Idol. I am gutted when Gareth Gates doesn’t win. I, also, get hooked to Big Brother! My Dad turned 50 years old and the world stood still as I watched the planes crash into the Twin Towers.

2002 - History becomes my favourite subject and I go on a WW1 Ypres trip to Belgium to see the Trenches. I loved it! I decide I want to be a Midwife when I grow up. My older sister, by six years, Nicola meets her long term boyfriend Robbie. The Queen Mother passes away at 101.

Into the trenches - October 2002.

Christmas 2002 - For me Christmas was ruined by the appearance of my period (too much information I know!) My Gran is rushed to hospital and passes away of Kidney failure :(

Winter 2003 - England win the Rugby World Cup - finally! The first cloned animal, Dolly the Sheep, passes away. I give up Ballet and focus on school, only to get my first detention. I decide I want to become a Midwife or Nurse when I grow up!

2004 - I become more opinionated and my support for the Iraq war immediately goes against after the death toll is announced. Indonesia and Thailand are devastated by the Tsunami and I help to raise money for the appeal. I have the best holiday ever in Spain! My best friend’s Brain condition begins to improve after 6 years and my Aunty Jo gives birth to a surprise baby boy at the age of 40!

It totals three cousins.

Summer 2005 - I took my GCSE’s and passed them all, particularly Math which meant I could get into college. I begin a Diploma in Health Studies and get a new Cat called Appleby! The Catholic Pope passes away and London win the bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics!

2006 - The UK have the hottest Summer on record and I am gutted that the Crocodile Hunter is killed. Saddam Hussein is executed. I pass my first year of college with distinction and I apply to Midwifery College only to be turned down and offered a first class offer into Nursing School. I accepted. My older sister moves out and after 17 years I get my own room! Finally!

They moved out...and I moved in!

2007 - I turned 18, began Nursing school and passed my driving test. My Mum turned 50 and we threw her a surprise family BBQ. My Facebook addiction begins at the same time Prime Minster Tony Blair quits. My first real relationship ends and I am heartbroken.

Winter 2008 - I begin to question if Nursing is the right path and meet my amazing boyfriend, Brad. The Spice Girls are back and I dance the night away at their reunion concert. I see my favourite film The Sound of Music in theatre. and my Mum has a Breast Cancer scare.

Girl power...take 2!

Summer/Autumn 2008 - I attended my first music festival and loved every second. I start blogging, visited Paris for the first time and fell in love with Nursing all over again. I am diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and told my chances of having children naturally are slimmer. I was devastated!

June 2008.

2009 so far - I decide to take part in Race for Life in aid of Cancer. The UK have the biggest snow fall in 20 years! I continue to train for my Nursing qualification and find my niche in Oncology and Surgery. I am counting down the months until my 21st birthday in 2010!

Fancy having a go? I would love to read about your lives. It is so much fun!

I have waited six weeks for my new blog layout and design. It was worth the wait totally! Do you like it? Erin has done a fantastic job and I am in love with the makeover. My whole life evolves around the essense of making memories and I wanted the new design to reflect that. The subtext at the top is from one of my favourite songs. It is by an artist called Natasha Bedingfield and the song is called Unwritten. I love the song and wanted to incorporate it into my blog to show that everyday we write new stories, make memories and show off different colours. Our lives are unwritten until we do something.

Erin's prices are great, she has communicated wonderfully and I will definately be going back. Thank-you so much Erin. Your're so talented!

In sadder news a close family friend of mine has been diagnosed with cancer and it has been pretty hard to accept. They have caught the lymphoma early but it is aggressive so the treatment will be rough and acted upon quickly. Cancer is so prevalent. There is never a day that does not go by where I do not treat people with it or there is a piece on the news. It is depressing and unfair. Now that it has hit closer to home I want to do something. Therefore, in June this year my two sisters and I will be doing a marathon called Race for Life in aid of our close friend. If you could support or send well wishes that would be a massive boost :)

We will beat Cancer. It's a fact. Thank - you.

My First ' Bloggy' Award.

I think it is even better than an Oscar or BAFTA as I recieved my first ever Bloggy award from Stephanie. I think this girl just made my Friday! I have to say when I started this blog I never thought that I would still be blogging today as I get bored very easily. However, the reason why I stick around is because of the stories, random quirks and amazing people I have 'met' through this. It may sound slushy to say but it is true. I really admire a lot of bloggers and the stories they invite others to be apart of. Some days you guys really pick me up when I need to or make me realise I have so much to be grateful for. Thank you much.

1. The rules of this award are: Put the logo on your blog or post.

2. Nominate at least 5 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!

3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.

4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

5. Have fun!

Therefore I have nominated 5 blogs that I love to read, even though I love so many more:

April - My life as an Army wife. This great woman is about to embark on adopting her second child and I am so excited for her!!!

Colette - Just a Girl. She has to be the most honest blogger I have 'met'! and she comes with a fair few laughs as well.

Allie - Salad Days. Allie retold the most beautiful love story that just had me hooked. Her vivacity for life is admirable!

Stacy - He will carry me. Stacy recently lost her baby Isaac and has the most stunning way with words. She is an amazing Mummy.

Librarian or Teacher - I love her quirky stories and the way she writes personally but has a fun sense of humour too.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Tomorrow I am taking my boyfriend on a Rally Driving experience and then going to see Fame in the theatre. I cannot wait. Thank God it is Friday!

What are your plans for the weekend?

I hope you have all enjoyed your Valentines weekend, even it is wasn't Valentines related. I have to admit I am not into the Hallmark holidays because I feel, like many, that you do not need a set date to show how much you love someone. Since it exists though I enjoyed the thought of buying my boyfriend a CD he had wanted for ages and a nice card. I mentioned in my last post that I did not spend Valentine's with him because a band from the US were doing a one off 'heavy metal love gig' in London. Since it was a one off it didn't hugely bother me and we decided to do something today instead.

At 2am I got a call from a very drunk Brad insisting he would make it up me. I wanted sleep so just did some "yeah cool" and "that's cool" throughout the conversation. Brad has rubbish memory, like most guys I know lol, and I assumed that in the morning he would not even remember calling me at stupid o' clock lol. I was wrong...

This evening Brad gave me a card and I thought it was lovely. I alway say for my birthday and christmas that as long as I get a card that I can keep and store in my scrapbooks I am happy. I am not insistent on presents. I left the room to answer a landline call and came back to this...

Lit candles, my card and chocolates. I loved it and could not help but feel really special.

I was so busy hugging and kissing him for being so romantic that Brad said I hadn't picked out the most important present and proceeded to take a photo. I obviously need to get my eyes checked as he showed me the below photo.

A new Accessorize butterfly clip.

I was so happy, overjoyed and kissed him a bazillion more times. There is a story behind this piece of amazing hair attire. I recieved this exact clip for my 19th birthday, last year, from one of my close University friend's. I had seen it in the shop for ages and just loved it. I could have afforded to buy it but my student loan restricts what I can purchase and Accessorize shop gear is not one of them! You may think that it is just a butterfly clip and to be honest butterflies are nothing special to me. I just wanted and loved the butterfly clip lol.

It was last April that I met my boyfriend and on our first 'official' date we were talking about faith and how we did not particularly follow a religion and that we believed in 'signs.' Brad, believes that when he sees a butterfly it is a way of his late Grandad communicating to him. My boyfriend is not really philosophical but his Grandad always used to say to him that relationships are like butterflies. We all start in out in a cocoon where we are not sure when we should fully be ourselves and show our true colours for the fear we get hurt. However, as the cocoon grows and develops a relationship develops stronger and a relationship begins to flourish. Just like when the butterfly is born and instantly flies. I love that theory!

A couple of dates later as we were leaving a restaurant Brad went to put his arm around me and knocked the hair clip out of my hair and it broke. If I am honest I was a little upset but it went over my head. It was a hair clip, I have quite a few more at home, just this one was my favourite and super shiny :). Brad was really apolegetic and felt bad but it was a hair clip!

Anyway to cut a long story short, Brad, was buying my Valentines card during the week with the chocolates. He said he wanted to buy something else as what he had just wasn't enough. His words not mine - chocolates are the way to my heart anyday girls! As he was walking back to his car he was talking to his best mate asking him what he had got his girlfriend for extra inspiration but he said he had to cut the phone call short.

It was because perched on his steering wheel was a Butterfly. It was pouring with rain, freezing cold, dark and 8pm. Yet, a bright pink and blue butterfly had found its way into his car. It wasn't a Butterfly to Brad. He knew who it was...and he had his inspiration.

Our relationship has flourished in every happy and sad colour but I am loving the ride. Happy Valentine's Boo! Your're the most amazing man I have met and you make me so happy.

What did you do for Valentine's?

Love, Becca xxx

Stephanie's Amazing Giveaway!

Heya Everyone =]

As many of you know I am training to be a Nurse. It is the most exciting, humbling and scariest thing I have ever done! One of the many aspects that makes the training easier to learn from is having the most up to date equipment to practice healthcare interventions on. Stephanie is a student nurse as well and is doing an amazing giveaway worth $150 (or around £120 for us English :). It has been designed to help raise money for a SimMan at her nursing school. The giveaway prizes are fantastic and they are related to her favourite things.

One day all of us or our families, although it is not nice to forsee, will be cared/treated by nursing teams for something minor or major. Therefore, donating today will help other nursing students to learn the best they possibly can to help now and in the future. It is such a good cause!

Go and have a peek at this giveaway and if you can please take part. The "Project AU SimMan" bonanza will last until the 15th March, 2009! So click on the button below and prepare to be wooed this Valentines!

Confessions of a Student Nurse

Well done, Stephanie. Your nursing school are so lucky to have someone so dedicated. Good luck! Today is LOVE day as well. I hope everyone has a lovely Valentines with the person they love the most. My boyfriend is away in London with his mates at a gig he has been dying to see for ages. Therefore, I will be spending it with my Cat this evening :). I hope you all have a very loved up day!

20 Tagging Questions.

There seems to be a tagging trend sweeping across facebook and blogger at the moment. I think it is a great way to get to know others quirks. I was tagged by Stephanie (go check out her blog!)

Step 1:
Respond and rework—answer the questions on your own blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.

Step 2:
Tag four other un-tagged people. Be sure to let me know when you have done this, and link back to me. =]

I'm 20 years old today!

Today I am no longer a teenager and turned 20 years old! I just want to say a massive thank you to all of my friends and family for sharing in on my special day. Also, I have recieved many facebook messages and emails with birthday wishes which have put the biggest smile on my face! I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. I celebrated with lots of food, music, cake and laughter. Below are some photos from my birthday weekend.

I love you all.
In light of today, I would also like all you beautiful readers to visit this blog. It is a blog I have followed for the past couple of weeks and this morning this beautiful family lost their little girl, Cora Paige. Please take a moment to visit, see the beautiful pictures of her and offer your thoughts/prayers. I cannot begin imagine their pain. If today has taught me anything is that in light of such enjoyment and happiness it can never mask the heartache many go through.
I hope you all have a lovely week.
